Discover the origins of the municipality in the Gothic hospital of Coll de Balaguer

This is the most emblematic monumental complex in L'Hospitalet de l'Infant, declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN). It dates back to 1344 and was founded by Prince Peter, son of James II and Blanche d'Anjou. Its function was to welcome pilgrims and pedestrians who passed through the Coll de Balaguer (Balaguer pass). Hence the name of the village, which reflects the main characteristic of its inhabitants: "hospitality".

The facility has a visitor centre that explains, in an understandable, entertaining and fun way, the monumental complex in relation to the plain of the coll de Balaguer, a strategic place since ancient times, and focuses on the concept of hospital in medieval times and on the founding of this space, life in the hospital and its unique architecture. To do this, audiovisual and interactive communication elements are used, such as historical reconstructions, virtual restitutions, augmented realities, etc.
